Gaydar "profiles itself as the patent holder" of gender evolution!

image coutesy of harvard law school

We were recently contacted by Legal agency on behalf of "Gaydar", an internet gay meeting site, that was apparently furious about the existence of our open creative project. Apparently, because the words "Gay" and "Darwin", in internet browser language ( that is as read by computers and not by intelligently human beings) would be confused(?) with their trade-marked brand-name "Gaydar"! They also claimed on behalf of "Gaydar" that our own project name "Gay Darwin" was intentionally misleading. We explained to them that this point of view was quite an arrogant one particularly since the entire concept of social Darwinism pre-existed their trademark 150 years or so.

They furthermore insisted that we should "hand-over" Gay Darwin to them because, constitutes a deliberate infringement of their trade-mark (Gaydar) because... we couldn't possibly not have known about "Gaydar" when registering our domain!!!
Now I have nothing against Gaydar and wish them all the success in the future but someone should inform them that they have not reinvented the wheel, nor the facsimile, nor have they conquered the universe (at least not in my neighborhood), while as of yet the word "Gaydar", in contrast to the word "Coca-cola", still gets a little red line under it in my spell-checking software.

Not to say that our project is gods-gift to humanity either, it is merely a humble initiative, of creative artists. We're honest, we're creative, we're hardworking but we have no large corporate backing, no great clout. Does this mean we will have succumb to such badgering and intimidation? No. Its a matter of principle.

What next.... pray I may? A descendant of Darwin shows up with claims on his great grandfathers theory?

If anyone else holds claims he/she owns the rights to the first 3 letters of our domain as well,... "Gay", please let us know so we can split this site up fairly. If this happens to be you perhaps you should speak up now. Speak up god!

Needless to say to all you 'swindled' and 'confused' readers, that we are not affiliated to "Gaydar", we certainly don't offer gay meeting, gay dating or gay chat services..... but I think that was already pretty obvious wasn't it?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of patents however, and on a happier note, take a look at the new patented Cock Ring by esculpta that we just received photos of!

Leonardo Davinci and gender roles

The most famous portrait known to man is the Mona Lisa by Leonardo Davinci. The question remains unsolved as to whether Leonardo used his own features on the painting, and furthermore if this was a painting technique (or tactic) or if this had any deeper meaning.

Gender seems to have been a very central issue in Leonardo's work in general - (it is no coincidence that Dan Brown also developed his story around all-important gender depictions in the last "supper".

Speculation over Leonardo da Vinci's actual sexuality began when he was 24 years old after his arrest on charges of sodomy, a serious crime in 15th century Florence. No witnesses appeared to support allegations da Vinci had sexual relations with a seventeen-year-old male model, thus the charges were dropped.

Gay heroes.com offers an interesting analysis and view on the subject pointing out that.. "Renaissance Florentines didn't make the distinctions we make about sexuality today and apparently it was common for young men to get into sexual relationships; in fact, the word "Florenzer" was German slang for "homosexual"".

I personally agree with "Ramone Johnson" from about.com who says, "Today, we are left with mere speculation as to the same-gender-loving feelings Leonardo da Vinci may have expressed in his personal life and his art. Regardless of his sexuality, Leonardo da Vinci should be (and is) remembered as the most influential Renaissance artists in our history."

Gay darwin genetics: a possible solution to the gay genetic question!

Italian geneticists may have explained how genes apparently linked to male homosexuality survive, despite gay men seldom having children. Their findings also undermine the theory of a single “gay gene”.

The researchers discovered that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same - as yet unidentified - genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men. This fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men, and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation.

The findings represent the best explanation yet for the Darwinian paradox presented by homosexuality: it is a genetic dead-end, yet the trait persists generation after generation.

“We have finally solved this paradox,” says Andrea Camperio-Ciani of the University of Padua. “The same factor that influences sexual orientation in males promotes higher fecundity in females.”

Bravo Gaultier!

Jean Paul Gaultier's size 20 statement, image from dailymail.co.uk

When Jean Paul Gaultier sent a size 20 model down the catwalk in lingerie, I thought it was it was one great action with a sense of both wisdom and humor. I do not think he was taking anything or anyone seriously... But somewhere does lie an important statement. After all this was the fashion designer who first dressed a man in a dress for the cat-walk in the mid-1980's.

No one has any authority to tell another what should be considered attractive.

Overweight replacing underweight is not a sensible statement in general fashion-wise or society-wise. It is however a great way of mocking the ridiculous establishment of political and social correctness - An excellent sense of humor with brilliant whit that leaves even the usual feminist critics totally speechless!

A small tribute to a large man
Jean-Paul Gaultier

(Born April 24, 1952)
French fashion-designer, born in Arcueil. Gaultier a.o. worked for Madonna, for who he designed the clothes for the Blonde Ambition Tour.

Costume-design for films: Le Defile (1986), The Cook, the thief, his wife and her lover (1989), Kika (1993), The City of Lost Children (1995), Judge Dredd (1995), The fifth element (1997), La Mala Educacion (2004)

Mykonos Nostalgia

Cocktails and long drinks, the smell of hot sun-burnt skin and coconut suntan lotion all around.
I'm sooo nostalgic of the summer!!!!! Was just browsing some information on Mykonos and came across the all-time classic gay hotel Elysium. The perfect place to express yourself freely and to be inspired by the stunning warm hospitality of the island of Mykonos.

Now this beats most gay-friendly hotels I have certainly seen. Can't wait until the summer comes....
In Mythology, the Elysium has always been thought of as the playground of the gods ..."we constantly strive to recreate the essence and flavor of that special era in history" ...
say the proprietors, and all who have been to this cosmopolitan gay party hot spot, know that this is an understatement!

Gay jewelry

"The mermaid was a female ancient greek mythological creature that has kept an undefined place as some kind of a modern lifestyle diva celeb. No one really knows what mermaids do, apart from swimming around sloppy and half naked. And they're still famous for that! just for that!? I realised that there must be room for competition in Mermale-land. It also popped into my head that theres probably a little more room in the hall of fame of all-time mutated humanoids so this is my small contribution to modern mythology and humanity... (drum-roll) THE MERMALE!" Nikias, Jewelry designer

Gay male fashion

This spanky item was designed and circulated in limited edition (200 pieces). The stunningly thick dog tag is casted with a chunky amount of sterling silver and is certainly the piece-de-resistance of any fashion-cosncious gay bear. A hot interpretation inspired by the erotic art of the artist "Tom of Finland". As far as gay interest art and fashion goes, this pendant goes all the way. Hurry to esculpta if they're not already sold out!

(Leather Jocks not included, just the gay bear).

The Merman has already traveled oceans and shores around the world. This photo shoot was on a quiet Mykonos beach (Mykonos for those unaware, is a stunning island that is also one of the hottest gay capitals of Europe - particularly in the summer!) This item is available to purchase from esculpta
